44-storey commercial high rise in Victoria
BHP World Corporate Headquarters comprises of 44-storeys of column-free space, with clear spans up to 18 metres and a side core, located in Queen Victoria Village.
This building is one of the first in the new wave of ‘campus’ style projects. It utilises a jump formed side core, reinforced perimeter columns and one-way spanning slabs, supported on regularly spaced steel beams acting compositely with the floor slab.
The floors are designed to meet strict deflection performance criteria (25mm absolute). Steel erection columns were utilised to enable steelwork erection to proceed well ahead of concrete floors.
