Menzies Research Centre and Medical School

Specially built for sustainability and innovation

The Menzies Research Centre and Medical School project required careful integration of heritage and new structure, consisting of two stages:

  • Stage 1: Construction of a unique 5-storey building and refurbishment of a student accommodation building
  • Stage 2: Provision of medical and clinical research facilities for the Menzies Research Institute, University of Tasmania School of Medicine,and Royal Hobart Hospital

Features of this project include:

  • Two lecture theatres
  • Office and laboratory accommodation
  • Cafe and landscape podium
The development received a 5 Green Star Rating; with its thermal insulation break in precast panels, rain water storage, natural lighting, and efficient glazing systems.
