The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia Federation Square project has been recognised for its engineering ingenuity, by winning a prestigious “Institute of Engineers Excellence Award” at both State and National level.

As the largest single structure on Federation Square, Bonacci Group designed the Ian Potter Centre which is a gallery for both indigenous and non-indigenous Australian artists featuring 3 levels:

  • Ground floor consisting of 7,250 sqm of exhibition space featuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art
  • First floor featuring historic and modern Australia art
  • Second floor featuring contemporary art and galleries for special exhibitions

Federation Square is a landmark precinct encompassing cultural, recreation and commercial activities in the Melbourne CBD, where there are 3 buildings:

  1. The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia
  2. Cinemedia Centre: houses SBS studios, film and multimedia spaces
  3. The Atrium: weather-protected space extending from Flinders Street to the banks of the Yarra River
